Coast Open volleyball tournament at Voi

Local volleyball clubs and County volleyball stakeholders have been challenged to up their game to develop the game.

Speaking during the Coast Open volleyball tournament held over the weekend at Moi stadium Voi, the CECM Sports, Gender and Youth Affairs Bigvai Mwailemi promised to support the sport by organizing more tournaments for the local players to sharpen their skills.

He also challenged them to demonstrate good value by improving on their game.

“I want to see you plying your trade even at the National and International level. It’s possible, the sky is the limit. As the CECM in charge of sports I assure you my unwavering support. My office is open, you can bring better ideas to improve the sport because I believe we can do better as a team,” he said.

He further congratulated the Coast volleyball branch for their exemplary work in developing the sport in the region.

Mr. Mwailemi was accompanied by Kaloleni MCA Hon. Omar Ahmed -who challenged players to observe high levels of discipline and dedication among players to prosper in the sport.

KPA Girls and Shimo la Tewa Prisons clinched the ladies and male titles respectively.

Among local clubs that participated in the tournament include; Voi AP, Wundanyi volleyball club, CIT volleyball team and Dr. Aggrey volleyball team.

Coast Open Volleyball tournament is an annual sports event sponsored by Mr. Rodgers Mwafungo. Next year’s tournament will be held at Dawson Mwanyumba stadium Wundanyi.
