Taita Taveta Football Kenya Federation chair Javan Mwadime challenged other leaders to follow the example of Mwashako.

Taita Taveta leaders have vowed to make concerted efforts to promote sports in the County to bring the youth together and exploit their talents.

Led by Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako, the leaders said that they will involve other stakeholders to nurture sports culture in the region.

Speaking at Dawson Mwanyumba stadium during the finals of Hon. Danson Mwashako under 20 tournament finals, County Youth, Sports and Gender CECM Bigvai Mwailemi, Mwanda/Mgange MCA Anselm Mwadime, Wumingu/Kishushe MCA Salim Kifuso and nominated MCA Jackson Mwagharo concurred with the MP that sports is among the top paying jobs in the world currently.

“Our executive and County Assembly will work with other leaders to support our sports talents. Take sports seriously because it’s among the top paying jobs in the World,” Mwailemi advised the youth.

The leaders and football fanatics from Wundanyi constituency were treated to a thrilling match between Wundanyi ward combined and Mgange/Mwanda ward combined where Wundanyi won 2-1.

Mwashako promised to award ksh. 10,000 in form of bursaries to all the tournament participants.

“During the vacation you were fully engaged in this tournament. Your parents will be happy to hear that we have given you sh 10,000 in form of bursary to support your education. My office will work with the County Government in supporting sports initiatives,” he said.

Taita Taveta Football Kenya Federation chair Javan Mwadime challenged other leaders to follow the example of Mwashako.

“Our County team will depend on the under 20 teams to supply them with players. We also urge our youth to desist from drug abuse and other vices and engage in sports. They should also maintain high standards of discipline when engaging in sports,” said Mwadime.

The teams were awarded with trophies and footballs as individual players were issued with certificates.
